Got some big plans!

So readign all these craft blogs by women who have made a living on their crafts has really inspired me. I don't think I could make a living off it at this point in time but I defiantly want to get the word out on what I'm doing and make more stuff for more people and maybe a little money : ) .

Well I've always loved going to little festivals and we've got this great on in town every March called Azalea Festival that I love. I'm going to try and have enough stuff ready to have a booth set up. I'm super excited!! I've started planning on what needs to be done between now and then. It's going to be a lot to do but I think it'll be worth it. I have like 3 festivals & arts & craft shows that I have plans on going to between now and then so I'll be taking notes on how things are set up at those and maybe talking to some people for any newbie advise.

Busy little sewing bee

So my sewing juices have been flowing lately and I love it!! I've made some new things, sold some things, got a few orders in and finished part of a Christmas present. I've been getting a lot of practice in which is good. I really feel like I'm slowing getting a lot better. For being self taught and not having done this for very long I think I'm doing pretty great. My zippers are still pretty iffy most of the time but I know those tend to be one of the harder things to do. I'm kind of proud of myself. I've been known to try something out and give up on it pretty quick but it hasn't been this way with sewing. I think it helps that my mom gets so excited when I make stuff especially when her friends want to buy it.

Show and tell time!!
(Not gonna lie, I am no photographer. Ha)

This is my new little Bible cover. My mom's friend has asked if I could make her some bible covers for her to go with some Bibles that she is giving for Christmas presents. I had never made a book cover before so I wanted to try it out before. It ended up turning out really nice. I didn't think of it until the end but I should have added a little loop near one of the handles for a pencil holder. But oh well. I'm just going to add it on theirs.

Me & my mom have been into the couponing lately and I just couldn't find a holder that I liked so I made one! Ha. I found the tutorial online somewhere, not really sure where.

This is my new little phone case! I love making patchwork stuff. I have a huge bin just full of scraps that I love to just reach in mix and match stuff together. I don't really like the ribbon that I used for the little loop though. I don't know why I did that. I should have made one out of fabric. Next time.

This is one of those plastic bag stuffer/holder things. I made my mom one is this night sky fabric and had posted it on Facebook. A few days later I was looking through my fabric just to remember what I had and to see if I had anything I could make out of the stuff and I saw the fabric. Like two seconds later my phone buzzed w/ an email and it was a Facebook notification saying that one of my friends had commented on it and asked if I could make her one with Zebra fabric. Ha. Turns out I had just a big enough piece to make her one.  Worked out perfect!

OK. Enough pictures for today! Have fun!

Quilt

So yesterday it began. I'm going to make a quilt. It's going to be a t-shirt quilt with all my old high school marching band t-shirts. Right now I only have like 4 things cut out and with fusible interfacing on them and a huge pile of t-shirts. They are coming out to be a lot of different shapes so I'm kind of worried about how I'm going to piece them together but I'll figure it out....hopefully. It's probably going to take me a while to make this thing. I'll take some pictures when I actually have something other than a pile of t-shirts.

I've also started on some Christmas presents too. I've decided that I'm going to be making everything this year and I also ended up making the list of people who are getting something longer than it is most years. Ha. So I figured I should get started on this stuff soon. The only bad part is that I can't post pictures of them. Some of them are going to be really cute. There is going to be a picture overload on here and Facebook on December 26. Ha.

Back at it again

So I'm going to be back. I'm going to post more. Probably more about food. And sewing things that I make. I have WAY TOO MANY recipes and things to make bookmarked that I need to get to making (so I can bookmark more things. ha!)

This will happen. Ha.

Gussy Sews - Inspiration Workshop - Week 3

This weeks inspiration is GREEN.

Oh the many ways that this could go. The first that pops into my head is nature. So that is where I shall take this.

I just love this. It's so dreamy. I'd so love to live in a forest and one of these be my bed. It would be amazing.

Oh man. I'd so be ok with living there. It's so cute. Ahh I love it!!

Oh and this would be my backyard. Man I'd be watching so many movies. And just sit out there and read and listen to nature. Oh how it would be beautiful it would be!!

This would be my "vacation" home. Ha. It would just be down the hill. I'm just in love with this place. So peaceful looking!!

Oh and just because I love this.

My sewing room and some unwelcomed guests

Since I'm back at home with my mom I kind of took over her music room and turned it into my sewing room. Ha. Before I moved out I had this huge desk in my room but when I left I didn't take it with me because it was just way to big so I just got me a new small one. When I moved back I took it with me and wanted it in my room instead of the old huge one. We ended up though pulling off the hutch and now I use the bottom part as my sewing table. It's the perfect size and also gives me some more storage.

I love having it in front of the window! It gives me some really nice light to work with during the day! And it's nice to have the open area to be able to have the ironing board right there so I can just turn around and press some stuff down. And I'm slowing taking over the bookshelf with fabric and random stuff. ha!

But today I had some not so welcomed guests in my room. I was just sitting there and this little ant walked in front of my sewing machine. I looked down at the floor and this is what I saw:

Little stinkin ants all over the floor and all over my interfacing that I had on the floor. I had some random scraps and pieces of denim in that box and I looked and they were all in there for some reason too.

I have no idea why they were in that room of all rooms in the house. I don't eat in there so it's not like there were any food crumbs all over the place. And I couldn't find where they came from either. And then my mom came moved a couple things around to try and find where they were coming from. Then we left the room for a second and when we came back they were gone. Ha. So hopefully she scared them away for good!!

that was my day.

nomnomnom

So since my dad was home this weekend and Father's Day is next week but he probably won't be here I decided that it would be a good time to make a nice lunch. For some reason I've really been wanting to make some homemade burger so that's what we had! Ha.

I made cheddar and ranch burgers, homemade fries (they were covered with olive oil (EVOO if you watch Rachel Ray ha) and salt and pepper. Man they turned out so good!!), corn on the cob and we had two things of squash from the garden cut up and grilled! It was pretty tasty. And this morning I had also made some pecan and walnut muffins. I got the recipe from Emma from Food Coma blog. It's actually apple nut muffins but I made them the first time with apples in them and turns out I don't like cooked apples. So I just left them out. They were pretty awesome. She's got some killer recipes on her blog. I love it!!

\Well I was going to upload some pictures but blogger is being dumb. I'll do it later.

I got a squash

I got a squash. I got a squash. I got a squash. Hey hey hey hey!

I just had to show of my first picked squash.

Sorry the picture kind of sucks. I'm no photographer and it's straight from my phone. But it's about 6 inches long & a nice yellow color.

But one of the flowers is covered in little bugs. Not good. I REALLY didn't want to put any kind of bug spray on it. I want these to be organic. But also don't want these bugs to take over and kill my squash. I'm defiantly going to look up some natural ways to get rid of them.

Have any of you dealt w/ bugs and veggie gardens before? How'd you make the bugs go away?

Gussy Sews - Inspiration Workshop

So I'm going to be going along with Gussy Sew's Inspiration Workshop every week. I follow her blog and love it and this looked like fun!

This week the inspiration is - KITCHENS

I thought this would be fun seeing that I'm going into culinary arts. Kitchens will be playing a big part in my near future.

I can't really say that there is a certain style of kitchen that I like. There are a lot that I've seen that are completely different styles that I love.

I love this chalk board! I like to write down different recipes or thing that I want to try. I have a horrible memory! I just decided that I want a chalk board wall in my future now. haha

I love the openness of this kitchen. My dream kitchen definitely needs to be open and airy and bright.

I LOVE the island in this kitchen. That is another MUST in my future kitchen. A big island!!

I definitely want a kitchen that is practical and cute. And lots and lots and lots of cabinets! I don't like to have a lot of stuff on the counter (I get that from my mom. Thanks mom. Haha) so having lots of cabinets to put stuff in would be fantastic! I want too many cabinets to know what to do with. Ha. Well I'd know what I'd do with them...BUY MORE STUFF TO FILL THEM! Ha.

Veggie Garden!

For years I've been wanting to plant a vegetable garden at home. Since I had been living in dorm rooms & a town house I haven't been able to. My last roommate had a crazy green thumb and got me into planting some things and now that I recently moved back home I finally decided that I'm going to do it.

I planted squash, green onions, lettuce, beans, carrots and I got a cucumber plant, chocolate bell pepper (yes. Chocolate. It apparently just looks like chocolate but tastes normal) and a black tomato plant.

full garden

(you can click the picture to see it larger)

My squash and cucumbers are growing like crazy! I love it!

This is the biggest one

my cucumber plant is taking over the world! ...or at least our back patio. ha.

I don't think I've actually ever eaten squash so my first taste of it will be my very own. Two of them need to grow about 2 more inches and then they will be ready to harvest. I've already been pulling some lettuce and throwing it in my salads. I'm excited to have some cucumbers. I've been wanting to make some pickles (just to say that I have done it. ha).

Weight Watchers Update (7 June 2011)

Second weigh in was today and guess what?!?!

I LOST 2.4 POUNDS!!

Eck! I was so excited. I didn't count like I should have so I didn't think that I would do that great. But I was wrong! Ha. I think it has to do a lot with the fact that it was my first week back and I always seem to do rather well my first week back. I think it's just my bodies first reaction to knowing it's not going to get all the food in sight. So this coming week I'm going to have to be on my game and really track all my food.

I also started walking around the local middle school track with one of my friends. It actually wasn't that bad. I thought it was going to be so hot but we had a nice breeze and they were watering one size of the field in the middle of the track so we get some nice cool watery breezes. And plus we talked the whole time so it went by kind of quickly. It was nice. We're going to be going every Tuesdays and Thursdays.

And I set my first big goal too. I want to loss 30 pounds by my birthday in December. To do it I have to loss at least 1.5 pounds a week. I think it's a really good goal and I could easily do it. My ultimate goal is 60 pounds I think. I anything too far over would actually put me underweight. I haven't really set a goal date for this yet but I like the idea of cutting it into small chunks. Make it more manageable and seem more doable.

*Tracker*
Goal: 30 lbs.
Gone: 2.4 lbs.
Left: 27.6 lbs.

Crafty Saturday

I'd say I had a rather productive day!

So a while back at my old job we could get any dress from the store for 60% off and since we didn't really have any of the dresses I liked yet in our store I just got a plain black strapless dress because I didn't want to pass up that deal. Well I don't really like strapless dresses so I decided to add straps to it. I was going to just add plain black straps but ended up getting the wrong shade of black. So me & my mother went to Hobby Lobby and were looking at the fabric and she had the brilliant idea to look at the ribbon. I found this flower ribbon and fell in love! Ha.

I also added the flowers at the bottom. I was going to make them but we decided to just get some already made ones that have pins on the back because it was cheaper.

This is a close up of the straps.

I'm pretty much in love with this dress!!!

I also got this little pattern and fabric/material set a while back at this cute little store near Atlanta called A Scarlet Thread (this has to be the best store I've ever been into. I walked in and literally stopped two steps in and my mouth dropped after seeing all the wonderful fabric. LOVE IT. And the people there were SO nice and helpful too!) and I finally made it tonight.

I'm pretty proud of it. I think it turned out really nice.

And my mom and I picked out a pattern for a new purse for me to make for her. I'm nervous but excited to make it.

All in all. Pretty swell Saturday.

Sewing, Sewing and more sewing.

So I've totally been procrastinating on starting so many sewing projects. I'm just really good at procrastinating. I think it's the cutting of the fabric. I just don't care for that part. BUT I love every other part of sewing. So I'm just going to suck it up and cut the fabric.

My sewing to-do list:
-2 bags for my mom's coworker's granddaughters (getting $$ for this one!)
-a bag for my mother
-(very)late Mother's Day present for my mom (not gonna list what it is just in case she reads this)
-put straps on this dress I have (details in new post)
-an organizer for random stuff for the front of my notebook
-boxes/organizers for my embroidery draw
-curtains for my room

There is probably some other things I want/need to make too. I'm gonna go get on it right now.

Weight Watchers Update

So I totally meant to post this yesterday. I just get distracted easily. Oops.

Anyways. Yesterday was my first Weight Watchers meeting. I'm not going to lie it was kind of boring. Ha. But I knew that already. I learned about the PointsPlus system too. I guess it's good. I'm just not looking forward to forgetting everything I knew about the old point system and relearning the new way. But it's whatever.

I found out that I get 38 points daily. Which sounds like a lot. But again. Gotta forget all I knew about the old point system. I used them all up and didn't go over! Yay for me!!

I took a before picture yesterday but it's still on my phone and honestly I'm just too lazy to load it. Ha.

Oh Adele

I absolutely love Adele. Her voice is just beautiful, her songs come straight from mine and every women who has been in a relationship heart and I love that she isn't like miss skinny Hollywood looking lady. She looks like a real women. Love it. This post is dedicated to her!

The first day of the rest of my life - beginning Weight Watchers....again.

So since about the age of 17 (I'm 21 now), I've been on Weight Watchers about 3 times. I'm starting again today. I guess I'm excited. Maybe. Who knows. I just need to loss the weight. The first time I did this I lost almost 50 pounds. I need to do that again. I'll be going to weekly meetings on Tuesdays with my mom. I'll be updating my loses and (hopefully very few) gains and if they give us any nice recipes or if I have a nice recipe to share or anything I really feel like sharing (I mean it is my blog. I can do what I want. Ha).

I'm going to get my mom to take a before picture of me later today. I want to be able to see the difference.

Culinary School

So it's official. I've been accepted into Wiregrass Georgia Technical College. I will be going for culinary arts. I am so excited!!! I really love cooking and baking but I don't know all the techniques and how to do certain things. I am so looking forward to learning about the different aspects of cooking. I think I want my life to be cooking and baking. It's the one thing that I can really picture myself cooking and baking all the time. YAY!

Sunday, May 22, 2011

I will keep this updated. I will keep this updated.

So now that I'm back at home and cooking and crafting more I'm going to try and keep this updated. I'll be posting projects I work on and meals I cook and things I bake. Once I start school in August I'll keep updated on what I'm doing. I'm gonna work through some things to make this a better blog. It'll be fun!

Argh I'm a slacker.

So I failed at the 30 Days of Lists.

So I'm going to start planning what's going to happen with this blog. This will happen.
